Privacy Policy: Second Order Publisher

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers Second Order Publisher, a private command line tool operated by Botzone Limited. It is not a product, it is not offered to the public, and it has no users other than its owner. It publishes videos to, and reads analytics from, YouTube channels that its owner controls.

2. Use of YouTube API Services

Second Order Publisher uses YouTube API Services. By using it you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and you are subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

You can review and revoke this tool’s access to your Google account at any time at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. Revoking access ends all access immediately.

3. What the tool accesses

With the owner’s explicit consent, given through Google’s standard OAuth 2.0 flow, the tool accesses the owner’s own YouTube channels in order to:

• upload video files that the owner has produced;
• set video metadata, including titles, descriptions, translated titles and descriptions, thumbnails, caption files and scheduled publish times;
• read performance figures for the owner’s own videos, such as views, watch time, audience retention, traffic sources, geography and viewer language.

It accesses no other person’s YouTube data, and it does not read or collect information about viewers as individuals.

4. What the tool stores, and where

All data is held on the owner’s own computer. Nothing is stored on a server, and nothing is transmitted to any third party. Specifically the tool holds:

• an OAuth refresh token, used to reconnect to the owner’s own channels without signing in each time;
• video files, thumbnails, caption files and metadata produced by the owner;
• aggregated performance figures for the owner’s own videos.

5. What the tool does not do

• It does not share, sell, rent or transmit YouTube data to any third party.
• It does not use YouTube data for advertising, profiling or audience targeting.
• It does not combine YouTube data with data from other sources to identify any individual.
• It has no user accounts, no sign-up and no other users.
• It does not publish content on behalf of anyone else.

6. Retention and deletion

Data is retained on the owner’s computer only for as long as it is useful, and is deleted on request or when the tool is removed. Authorisation can be withdrawn at any time through the Google account permissions page linked in section 2, which immediately ends the tool’s access. Any data already held locally is deleted on request to the address below.

7. Legal basis and your rights

Where any personal data is processed, the legal basis is the consent of the account holder, given through the Google OAuth flow. Because the only account holder is the owner of the tool, there are no third party data subjects. If you believe otherwise, you may exercise your rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including access, rectification, erasure and objection, by writing to the address below.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
